Derick Vinculado is an emerging Filipino artist who creates cosmos of both rational and irrational archetypes and symbols. He uses “random old books as my ground to add character and nostalgia”. Through Vinculado’s combination of both reality and fantasy, the levitating monolithic buildings, objects, trees, even empty desolate cityscapes become as many disquieting enigmas.
Vinculado was born in 1986 in Manila and studied at the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts, where he majored in Studio Arts – Painting. His work has been exhibited in the Philippines and the United States, and purchased by Art collectors from around the globe, including Hong Kong, London, the Philippines, San Francisco, Texas, Miami, Chicago and Alabama.
